San Jose Municipal Garden
The Love Rose is distinguished by its scarlet red and white reverse colors. The Love Rose was bred by William A. Warriner in the United States prior to 1977. Jackson & Perkins Co. introduced it as "Love" in 1980. It has a mild fragrance that is sometimes difficult to detect. With up to 40 petals, this beauty sports the type of foliage that makes shooting these in sunshine a bit tricky: large, glossy, dark green and leathery. In the shady area where I've shot it at the San Jose Municipal Rose Garden, it appears to be vigorous and very resistant to disease that I see overtaking other roses in full sun, such as the Marina rose.
