Olson's Orchard Starting To Bloom

February 20, 2016  •  Leave a Comment

Olson's Cherry Orchard in Sunnyvale, Calif., is one of only two remaining working orchards in Sunnyvale.

With the rain in late 2015 and now in winter 2016, it should be a bumper crop for yellow oxalis flowers and mustard. Near the end of those blooms, the cherry orchard explodes with beautiful white blossoms.

In a valley that traces its history back to the land ~ with orchards being an integral element in that history, it is very sad for me to see so many orchards plowed under and asphalted over.

The orchard is in full bloom for much of early to mid spring, whether it is yellow mustard blossoms, wild yellow oxalis and/or the white cherry blossoms.
